We don’t think so! We’ve upgraded our manufacturing processes and choice of suppliers several times, specifically to bring the highest-quality Cardboard VR Headsets to the market.
Unofficial Cardboard products use acrylic 45mm asymmetrical biconvex lenses. We chose these lenses at the recommendation of an optometrist who tested all our lens options.
No. We currently do not know of a viable solution for cleaning cardboard (please contact us and let us know if you do!).
Unofficial Cardboard VR Headsets come with a clear oval sticker that was specifically custom-designed and added to prevent the reported staining and allow you to clean that spot.
Yes, you can color it however you want. Just be sure to take pic and share it with us! :-)
Yes, all of our VR Headsets come with programmed NFC tags. These tags are not locked and can be reprogrammed with any Android phone with NFC capabilities.
Unofficial Cardboard does not sell VR Headsets without NFC tags.
No, our Unassembled VR Headsets require no adhesives for assembly!
If you do want to glue your cardboard for a repair, you need to buy cardboard glue. Adhesive and crazy glue won’t work for this. (Believe us, we have tried!)
However, Unofficial Cardboard products in our Parts & Hardware category will require various tools depending on how you are using them. Please contact us with any questions regarding these products.

Download and launch any mobile VR apps before sliding your smartphone into your Cardboard Headset. That’s it!
Also, different mobile VR apps usually provide various methods for inputing user commands without taking your smartphone out of the VR Headset. Some will work by triggering the magnet, while others like the Google Cardboard App let you return to the home screen by tilting your VR Headset 90-degrees to the right.
Yes! The only concern would be that children can quickly destroy a product made of cardboard. ;-].

Unofficial Cardboard VR Headsets use 45mm Asymmetrical Biconvex Lenses.
Multiple rounds of testing different lenses with optometrists concluded that our acrylic 45mm Asymmetrical Biconvex Lenses provided the highest-quality VR experience.
Cardboard VR Headsets are inexpensive tools that enable users, with compatible mobile devices, to experience the magic of virtual reality (VR).
Google debuted and gave out their Google Cardboard VR Headsets at their 2014 I/O Conference to prove to the world that the VR experience could be fun and easily accessible for everyone. However, it was a one-time project and Google does not sell their Cardboard VR Headsets!
Thus, UnofficialCardboard.com was created to bring the highest-quality Cardboard VR Headsets to the masses. We’re passionate about the future of mobile VR, and we’re dedicated to sharing the VR experience with everyone.
The NFC tag is the round sticker with the Unofficial Cardboard logo.
Our lenses are meant for users with 20/20 vision, so you will need to wear your glasses or contact lenses for the best VR experience. We suggest contact lenses, because the frames of glasses tend to protrude wider than the VR headset’s width.
However, we have heard success stories from users who performed custom cutouts on the sides of their units to fit their glasses!

DOMESTIC U.S. ORDERS
WORLDWIDE & INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
We do our best to dispatch all orders placed before 6 a.m. Pacific time on the same day. During periods with high order volumes, this is not always possible. At these times, dispatch can take 24 to 72 hours or possibly longer in extreme conditions. All orders are dispatched in the order in which they are received.
On orders of smaller items using the standard service, full tracking is not available, only proof of delivery. Smaller deliveries using an expedited service will get a tracking number.
When a tracking number is first created, it can take a day or two to actually become live in the courier’s tracking system. This will often result in a “Not Found” or “No details currently available” message until the system has completely updated and your package’s tracking status. If, after 48 hours, your tracking status still does not show, please contact us and we will look into it for you.
Couriers sometimes recycle old tracking numbers. It can take a day or two for the new details update in the courier’s tracking system. This will often result in the courier temporarily displaying the old tracking details. This is more prominent with international packages. If your tracking details have not updated correctly within 48 hours of receiving your tracking number, please contact us and we will investigate your order’s status.
Please contact us with a detailed explanation and description of the damage. We will do everything we can to fix the situation, and your feedback will greatly help us prevent such damages from happening again.
While we would love to say that will never happen, minor mistakes do arise in the mass production process, and we apologize in advance. If you are missing any part of your order, please contact us , and we will do everything we can to correct the situation.

No, not at this time.
Nope! That is the seamless beauty of mobile VR.
No, neither you nor your phone need to be rooted to use any of our Unofficial Cardboard products.
Try making the magnet groove a little larger so the Note 4 phone senses the magnet pull.
NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It is basically a zero powered device that can store data to be read by another device that is powered.
Tiny microscopic strands on the tag raise up in the presence of an NFC reader (smartphone). These strands store data and the data is read by the smartphone. Currently, NFC can store a whopping 4K of data. Our NFC stickers only store 196 bytes since we only need 70 bytes to launch the cardboard app.
Our UC Classic model headset will fit most smartphones with screen sizes up to 5.2 inches.
Our latest UC Large model headset will fit most smartphones with screen sizes up to 5.7 inches(up to 6 inches without a case).
Alternatively, you can check our FAQ on the dimensions of our products to help you determine your smartphone’s compatibility.
We will also be adding two more models to our Unofficial Cardboard product line for iPhones and tablets, so please stay tuned for updates!
All phones running Jelly Bean 4.1 or newer can run the Google Cardboard App from the Google Play Store. However, the magnetic double-clicking will not work on some phones.
iPhone users can also get in on the fun. The range of apps is little more limited for iOS devices but is expanding all the time.
iOS devices are unable to use the clicker on the side of the device but the apps take this into account and use other actions for selecting things and moving around such as moving your head in a certain way or sometimes even shouting “SHOOT!”. It’s all great fun!
CNet ran an article about iOS compatibility. CNET article by Rick Broida) who attributed the lack of iOS mobile VR apps as the only compatibility issue.
No, the magnets actually assist in the functionality of the device. The magnets are used to make selections while the Cardboard VR headset is in use.
We also upgraded the magnets we use in our Unofficial Cardboard products to refine their strength and efficiency.
Yes! The NFC tag mainly serves as an added convenience. So don’t worry; You won’t be missing out on any VR fun just because your smartphone doesn’t support NFC.
No. Due to overwhelming demand for our products, we are not able to provide free samples of any kind. Most of our brushes and products are priced affordable to allow you to test the quality before purchasing higher priced items or in bulk.
Unofficial Cardboard VR Headsets will work with any smartphone that has a mobile VR app installed. Compatibility heavily depends on the number of iOS mobile VR apps available in the App Store.
The iPhone 5 and 5s with a case fitted fit neatly into the UC Classic. An iPhone 6 also fits the UC Classic.
The iPhone 6 Plus fits in the UC large.
For a List of some compatible apps please visit our Apps page HERE
Now that would be cool, but we’re not sure yet. If you figure it out before we do, please contact us!
Our NFC tags are not locked. You can rewrite them with any NFC enabled android phone. We use an app called “NXP TagWriter” but you can use any NFC writing app, like Trigger or NFC Tools.
Alternatively, you can deactivate the NFC on your smartphone.
Good question. I have no idea. We’ve been busy finding materials and building boxes. I will come back here very soon to create a list. I know they are out there for other systems so they just need to be tested.
The NFC Tag sticker pictured below activates when an NFC-enabled mobile device touches it. Once you have the Google Cardboard App installed on your NFC-enabled mobile device, touch the front or back of your device to the sticker. It should launch the Google Cardboard App so that you don’t have to launch the it manually! All that’s left before experiencing VR is to insert your mobile device into your Unofficial Cardboard VR headset. You can reprogram this NFC sticker to launch other Apps or websites. NFC Tools and Trigger are two of many Apps that can program and read NFC Tags with NFC-enabled mobile devices.
The lenses are designed to be used with 20/20 vision. Please make sure you are wearing your glasses or contacts. If it is still blurry, gently wipe the lenses with a soft cloth. Do not use strong detergents as this can damage the surface of the lenses and cause cloudiness.
There may be slight blur around the very edge of the lenses due to the curve, but that will be minimal. 45mm lenses will have much less blur around the edges than lesser focal length lenses sold by many other suppliers.
Also, if you have a screen protector on please remove it. Many times the screen protector is what will cause blur.
If you’ve tried the suggestions above and believe the blurriness is due to a defect in our product, please contact us, and we will do our best to assist you!
No. Unfortunately, we are not responsible for any damage resulting from the use or misuse of our products. So be careful if you start passing it around the party!
We also include a #32 rubber band with all our headsets specifically as a safety measure for keeping your smartphone from sliding out.
